February ECE Lessons

In the ECE, during Guidance class, we have been reviewing Kelso's choices, how to be a good friend, and also learning about growth mindset!

In PreK, we read the story 'The Little Engine that Could'. We had a lot of fun pretending to be trains with the song 'Train on the Track'.  We used kinetic-body movements to help us with the vocabulary as well. For example, when the song said, "Puff-Puff-Puff" our hands opened and closed to make 'puffs' of smoke. Afterwards, we started making our own trains!

When making our own trains, we practiced using our fine motor-skills with coloring, gluing, and rolling the wheels out of paper! The students had a lot of fun making their trains and making them move around the room!
During this activity, there were some things that were a bit tricky for us! We practiced saying our poem, 'I think I can!' it goes like this:

Can I do it? Can I do it?
I think I can! I think I can!
If I have a hard time! If I have a hard time!
I will keep trying! I will keep trying.

The students had a great time singing the song and practicing the movements. Ask your child to show you how it goes!
This unit was a great way for us to remember our strengths and how having a growth mindset can take us far! We learned that it is important to never give up, even when things are tricky or difficult. Ask your child about the story, "The Little Engine that Could!"

In Kinder, we have been reviewing Kelso's choices and what it means to be a good friend. We also started learning about Bullying and how we can stop bullying by working together and building our community. We read the story 'Juice Box Bully' and started to create our own Juice Box! Stay tuned to see how they turn out!
